WHY JESUS?
To find out why we follow Jesus watch or read below
Knowing Father God
He wants you to know Him as Father. He wants you to have a full life with meaning and purpose – For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life – John 3:16 – The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness – John 10:10
Not Everyone Knows This
However, many people do not know or understand God’s love and do not know Him as a good Father who loves them and wants the best for them. They are not experiencing the life He wants for them, because there is a problem. People have chosen to go their own way. The Bible calls this sin.
We Were Made to Know God
We were made to know God as our Father and experience His love and kindness, but because of our stubborn self-will, we chose to be independent and our relationship with Him was broken. This shows itself by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference to God.
The Great Gulf
There is a great gulf that exists between God and man. This was never God’s desire or intention for us. It has been our own doing. Our own efforts to bridge this gap, through religion or philosophy will always fail.
ONE WAY
There is only one way: Jesus Christ is God’s provision for man’s sin. Through Him you can know and experience God’s love and discover His plan for your life. He died in our place, taking the penalty for our sins.
Jesus Rose From the Dead
I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me — that Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the twelve apostles. After that, he was seen by more than five hundred of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died by now – 1 Corinthians 15:3-6
He is the only way back to God
Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’ – John 14:6. In order to know God as our Father we must accept Jesus’ sacrifice on our behalf and receive Him into our lives as Lord and Saviour – But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God – John 1:12
We Receive by Faith
We receive Jesus into our lives by faith. That is trusting in Him completely and in His sacrifice on the Cross to bring us back to God – God saved you by his special favour when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it – Ephesians 2:8-9. Once we do this we will experience His Presence through the Holy Spirit – After dark one evening, a Jewish religious leader named Nicodemus, a Pharisee, came to speak with Jesus. ‘Teacher,’ he said, ‘we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are proof enough that God is with you.’ Jesus replied, ‘I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the Kingdom of God.’ ‘What do you mean?’ exclaimed Nicodemus. ‘How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?’ Jesus replied, ‘The truth is, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven. So don’t be surprised at my statement that you must be born again. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell – John 3:1-8
What Kind of Life
A self-centred, self-directed life or a Christ-centred, Christ-directed life? Which one best describes your life? Which one would you like to represent your life? If you would like Jesus to be at the centre of your life you can express your desire to Father God through prayer. Here is a prayer you could pray: “Thank you, Father God for sending Jesus to die for my sins. Thank you that His blood was shed on the cross for me. I believe that Jesus rose from the dead and is alive. I receive Jesus now as my Lord and Saviour. Holy Spirit, please come into my life and make me the kind of person you want me to be. Amen.” – … those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. -John 6:37
